Bundi FortIn ancient times, the area around Bundi was apparently inhabited by various local tribes, of which the Parihar Meenas were prominent. Bundi and the eponymous princely state are said to derive their names from a former Meena king called Bunda Meena. Bundi was previously called “Bunda-Ka-Nal", Nal meaning “narrow ways”. Later the region was governed by Rao Deva Hara, who took over Bundi from Jaita Meena in A.D. 1342 by farud. renaming the surrounding area Haravati or Haroti.

Homes near FortBundi Fort is one of the most Fantastic Fort of Rajasthan.This Fort was never conquered by any one And was one of the most powerful city in the ancient times .This is Situated on Jaipur-Tonk highway and is a fantastic spot to see.

ReplyDeleteWhat was narrow about the ways of Bunda Meenor, I wonder? He certainly invested a lot of his wealth (and workers'/slaves'?) time in building that fort. Reminds me of a story--when living in Europe, I toured many castles. I asked a Scot why the fort was built on the hill above his town, "Was it to keep the English at bay?" "No," he answered, "just the neighbors."

I was just thinking that it would be great to see where these places are on a map. For example, you can see this one here: http://shrunklink.com/ctzf. Once your there, you can click the link button at the top right, to get a version that you can embed in your blog page. The neat this is that we can zoom in and out of such maps. Why not give it a try in future? I think it's great to be able to see where places are located on a map.
