Unseen Rajasthan Exclusive-Maha Kumbh Festival.

Kumbh Festival- Kumbh means Water pot or Vessel.Kumbh Festival is one of the Biggest Saint Festival in the World where Millions of Saints from every part of The World come to take bath in the Holy River "Ganga".I am happy that i got the opportunity to visit this Festival on 12th Feb 2010 and i am happy to share with you all.

Kumbh festival is organized in every 4 years at 4 different locations viz Nasik,Haridwar,Allahabad and Ujjain.Once happened at a location comes after 12 years only.This is the time when you can see the Real Spirituality of India.

People not only take bath but also pray to God to forgive them for all the sins they have committed.

Kumbh Festival Held every year and last for 4 months and 4 Major Baths are known as "Shahi Snan" or " Royal Bath" in which Saints according to their category take bath.

First bath is taken by " Naga Sadhu" who dnt wear anything and keep arms with them and then only other saints enter the river.

I feel it was my Luck that i got the opportunity to visit Maha Kumbh Festival.

    You have posted some very nice pictures to show us a festival which is unknown to many of us. You said that any questions are welcome. My question : why is this festival for men only? Or were they women there and you did not photograph them?

    I used to live in Haridwar till I got married. It is amazing to see the sadhus( saints) renouncing all earthly superficial benefits and come down from the Himalayas at exact period just to free themselves from the eternal cycle of life and death. Great Pictures

    @ Vagabonde : No, This festival is for both Men and Women but they both take bath at different places at same location.I didn't photographed them as that's not allowed.

    Is this the Kumbha Meala? Sorry...not quite sure of the spelling. I have several friends there right now. My guru is Sai Maa. Your pictures are very great and have a spiritual quality that comes through. The saddha in the Jeep is such a contrast.

    Very interesting this festival, which takes baths several people in the waters of the river...

    La gente no sólo tomar el baño, pero también orar a Dios que los perdone por todos los pecados que han cometido.

    Kumbh Festival que se celebra cada año y una duración de 4 meses y 4 baños principales se conocen como "Shahi Snan" o "Royal Bath" en la que los Santos de acuerdo a su categoría de tomar el baño.

    El primer baño se toma por "Naga Sadhu" que DNT usar nada y mantener las armas con ellos y sólo otros santos entrar en el río.

    Creo que tuve la suerte de que tuve la oportunidad de visitar Maha Kumbh Festival.
